Our new Critical Care Building represents the dedication and collaboration of thousands of employees, patients, families, community members, and workforce partners. Within these walls, we will support and inspire one another, and provide hope to children and families from our community and around the world by delivering the best care, outcomes, experience, and value.

Partnering With The Family Advisory Council

Our world is built around kids: their experience; their well-being; their families. So when we set out to build a word-class critical care facility, we invited patients and their families to help us. To ensure their impact is positive and longstanding, we created a Patient Advisory Council and partnered with them to help make design decisions that reflect what patients and families expect today.

Staff Support Space and Work Areas

Care is our calling. Each caregiver holds the power to impact and save lives. Better support for our people means better outcomes for kids. So when we imagined this place, we included our caregivers and asked: how can this space support you best? Their input was incorporated to support staff workflow, usability and safety. Our collaborative approach ensures employees are invested in and benefit from these innovations.

We know that innovation leads to quality care and outcomes for our kids and their families. The value and impact of the innovative capabilities in the new Critical Care Building further demonstrates our vision to be the leader in child health.

Creating Inspiration & Hope Through Art

Art uplifts and brings us all together. Throughout the Critical Care Building, visitors will find over a thousand works of art to inspire them. The artwork is not only beautiful, but provides wayfinding to help patients, families and employees acclimate to the new space. The art was created by professional artists in collaboration with our staff as well as and students from schools throughout Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana.

Partnering with the Community

We are proud to be part of Avondale, and providing community support is part of our DNA. We’ve worked closely with local leaders to understand the needs of our neighbors. We are so appreciative of their support and partnership as we brought this building to life—from design through construction and opening.
